Antigen Identification using Randomized Peptide Libraries

Year:
2014

Project Description

In this project the students will gain experience in the basic steps involved in searching for antigens associated with monoclonal antibodies, which are used extensively in the medical field to detect and treat diseases by binding to target cells and stimulating the patient’s immune cells to attack. In the Daugherty lab, we search for antigens that stimulate the production of antibodies that attack parts of the human body (called self or auto-antibodies) and give rise to diseases including Type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
